River Celebration 2025 was GREAT !!

September 7  greeted us with a crisp morning and the promise of sunshine.  Early volunteers gathered to raise up a 20 x 20 Pagoda Tent donated by Action Rent-All – a huge thank-you to them!

The River Celebration drew 400-500 participants – runners, bikers, walkers, rollers; families with babies and even octogenarians.

We hosted 45 booths including two food carts and a brand-new amplified music area.  Attendees tasted honey in Rasor Park and cider at The Grove. They learned about River Song Cohousing, permaculture practices, ways to advocate for our neighbors and  our planet, how to identity invasive species and tips for becoming a a bird-lover.

Music came from KT and the Love Notes and the Shipe Duo whose sounds complemented the flavor of Most Wanted Espresso and Bea’s Cart: Home-made Ice Cream Bars.

Overall we secured $ 3500+ in-kind donations from local businesses, highlighted by cash contributions from Emerald Broadband and the Pagoda from Action Rent-All, and prize donations from other merchants.

How does this happen?

In late spring, a dedicated Team from River Road Community Organization (RRCO) began planning.  Partnering with the city to allow food trucks and amplified music added new layers to the usual tasks of coordinating vendors, donors and volunteers. The collaboration paid off and we are thrilled with the results.

We recognize many aspects that worked well and others that could improve. We invite everyone in the community to share thoughts
