We were honored to have Eugene Mayor Kaarin Knudsen speak at our June RRCO neighborhood gathering. She spoke about what has occupied her time in her first five months as mayor and ongoing topics of concern, and then took questions from community members.
The Mayor spoke extensively about the City budget, which has occupied a good deal of the mayor’s time, given the $11.5 million shortfall they faced. They were able to find funding to cover $5.8 million of the gap, preserving core services like library and animal services, neighborhood associations, community center /child care, and more, and cut the budget by the rest.
It was an excellent conversation. While the Mayor didn’t promise solutions to all of our pressing issues, like county local access roads, we were able to make her aware of these concerns.
Rather than report here on the many different topics covered, we’ll direct you to the minutes of our meeting.
