Volunteer’s Needed – Watering Dates for Friends of Cadojen Park Trees

Hello to friends of Cadojen Park!!

Since we’ve had such a wet spring, I’ve waited until now to contact
you for help with watering our 24 nice native trees. It was great to
have many of you help us plant these trees on sat march 29th. You’ll
be glad to know that most of them are doing fine. Only a few of the
oak trees never leafed out, but the city said i can replant them in
the fall. I’ll probably do this in November.

Below is a list of watering dates that I’d like 6 volunteers to help
out with each date. I’m hoping to get some contacts from the high
school’s community service programs & the International High School
students, as well as CPY to help out with some of these watering
dates. Please pass this information on to others that may be
interested in helping out. Please email me, jen_doughome@yahoo.com.

I also thought it would be fun for some to have a potluck in the park
after the watering is done. Please let me know your interest in this
when you sign up, so I can get an idea of how many to count on.

Sunday June 22nd @ 9:30am
Sunday July 6th @ 7:00 pm
Sunday July 20th @ 9:30 am
Tuesday July 29th @ 7:00 pm
Saturday August 9th @ 9:30 am
Tuesday August 19th @ 7:00 pm
Wednesday September 3rd @ 7:00 pm
Sunday September 21st @ 9:30am
Sunday October 12th @ 7:00pm

I’ve set the dates +/- 2 weeks apart, but i can be more flexible if
you have an exact date that works better for you. We just need to get
a good system down w/ hoses, buckets,etc. , & keeping the trees
watered well enough during our heat spells. Hopefully the city will
respond w/ helpful tools like a watering cart.

Please plan on approximately 1 hour for watering the trees. Some days
may be longer if we need to spread a few chips around the base.

Please contact me with the dates you can attend, and other volunteers
that will be joining us to help & your phone #.

I will send out an updated list if these dates don’t work for most of
you. Thanks for your support in advance.

Hope you’re all planning fun outdoor adventures, & you’re gardens are
plentiful!!! In health & happiness.
