Dear Neighbor,
It has been said that the only constant is change. The communities of River Road and Santa Clara sit at a crossroads; our neighborhoods are changing in many ways and it is time to prioritize what is most important and communicate those priorities to the people who make decisions. Members of the community organizations have formed the Santa Clara River Road Outreach and Learning Project (SCRROL) to identify and share neighborhood priorities with decision makers. We invite you to participate in a public forum to help us understand how you’d like to shape our communities’ future.
At the forum we will share what we have heard from the community this summer, as well as listen to your ideas. Please come participate! Sincerely, The SCRROL Leadership Team

RRCO has established a bike and pedestrian interest group with an E-mail list. Please let us know if you would like to be added to this list. Here is the message that was recently sent with an opportunity to give input to the draft proposal.

Eugene Draft Ped Bike Master Plan is released – let’s meet to discuss it.

You can find the plan at http://www.centrallanertsp.org/sites/default/files/Draft-EPBMP-9.7.11.pdf There was an open house on Monday, Sept. 26th at the Eugene Public Library. A few RRCO members attended to get first hand information. Comments on the draft are due by 10/14.

A meeting is planned after that Open House and before the RRCO Board meeting on 10/10 to discuss the plan and perhaps draft a position for the RRCO board to consider on the 10th. River Road Park District has kindly offered us a meeting room at 7 PM on Wednesday October 5th at Emerald Park on Lake Drive. Please RSVP to Jon Belcher at

Crime Prevention for River Road

The last RRCO meeting provided us a clear understanding for why we need to increase our vigilance and to implement measures to protect ourselves and our property. We have County Sheriff coverage just 20 hours per day, and they will not come to your home if there is a burglary. Please let me know at carleenr@gmail.com if you want to be placed on the Police Alert list.

Here is the web address to learn about Lane County Neighborhood Watch.

After some RRCO members attend the Prevention Convention, we will be studying the steps that need to be taken to get some watch groups started. It is a little tricky as to whether we organize under the Eugene or Lane County auspices. It depends on who volunteers to help and whether they are incorporated or unincorporated. Let us know if you are interested in participating.

Subject: [Neighbors] Again: for those without adequate health care/insurance

HELPING THOSE WITHOUT HEALTH CARE: After a decade of operating primary care clinics for the Mayan people of the Guatemalan highlands, the all-volunteer Cascade Medical Team is focusing its efforts on a similar medical mission right here at home.

On Oct. 1 and 2, nine doctors from the team and the community will provide
free services to people who lack insurance or access to affordable health
care. PeaceHealth Medical Group will host the clinic at its Downtown Eugene
clinic, and both PeaceHealth Oregon Region and PeaceHealth Laboratories are co-sponsors.
