RRCO Executive Board Meeting, November 8, 2010

River Road Community Organization

We are grateful that the River Road Parks and Recreation District posted the announcement of the RRCO November 8 meeting on the reader board at the Annex. This will be an important meeting.

To be removed from this E-News, please make a request at this e-address. If your neighbor wants to be added to our RRCO E-News, send their e-mail address to carleenr@gmail.com. Our funds for mailing newsletters and postcards is at an end, so our E-news will be important for keeping our neighbors informed.

However, the Tri-County Tribune is planning to publish an edition for the River Road/Santa Clara area soon. The first issue will be mailed to all RRCO and SCCO neighbors, and you can find out how to obtain future issues at that time. Let RRCO E-news know if you have have an idea for publication: such as news articles, announcements of meetings and events, letters to the editor, sports, and stories authored by seniors to school children. Let’s use this new publication to share our very local news with one another.

We are also preparing to set up a Facebook page, so be on the look out for that as an additional way to keep in touch.

All RRCO meetings are open to the public with an opportunity to make comment. Our regular meeting is the SECOND Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m.

RRCO General Membership Meeting
Monday, November 8, 2010, 7 – 9 p.m.
River Road Annex, 1055 River Road
Public comment and short business meeting. In the first hour, River Road/Santa Clara Joint Strategy Team (JuST) forum will review recommendations about how to pursue our mutual urbanization concerns: parks, transportation, land use, and governance. If you are unable to attend this forum at the RRCO meeting, an extended version will be presented at the Santa Clara Community Organization meeting on November 4 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 3280 River Road.

During the second hour, LTD will inform us about public transit, including EmX, in the RR area and listen to our hopes to alleviate traffic congestion and address pedestrian and bike safety. What would River Road look like in 20 years if we don’t increase public transit service? Bring your ideas and your neighbors as we discuss our long-term transportation needs.

Holiday Dessert Potluck
RRCO Joint General Membership meeting with Santa Clara Community Organization
Monday, December 13, 2010, 7:00 – 9 p.m.
River Road Annex, 1055 River Road
Bring a savory or sweet finger food to share and join the discussion and social conversation with our neighbors from Santa Clara. The RR/SC Joint Strategy Team will once again be available to discuss recommendations that our SCCO and RRCO Boards be voting on as we seek information about our neighbors’ desired approaches to accommodate new residents and increased urbanization. How are we going to be governed, provide parks, transport goods and residents, and accommodate increased population with adequate services?
