River Road Community Organization
Monday, Oct 19, 2009; 7:00-9:00
River Road Park Annex-1055 River Road
Please join the River Road Community Organization (RRCO) for its October General meeting, Monday, October 19, 7 PM at the Annex, 1055 River Road, two blocks north of Goodwill.
The program is titled "Creating More Resilient Neighborhoods."
There will be a panel discussion featuring Margaret Mazzotta of the Eugene Police Department to discuss Neighborhood Watch; Geoff Simmons, M.D. of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) to discuss Emergency Preparedness, and Jan Spencer, Advocate of Suburban Permaculture and RRCO Board member to discuss Permaculture. This discussion will explore how all of these topics and activities are related and contribute to Community Resilience. http://suburbanpermaculture.org/resilience/Resilience.html
Each panelist will briefly explain what their community-minded program is about, and then the discussion will turn to how each program could multiply its effectiveness by cross fertilizing with the others. Learn more about how we can create more resilience in our community, make our neighborhoods safer, reduce our eco-logical footprints, and be better prepared for disasters and emergencies--both natural and human caused.
